Yellow-billed Magpie
Previous: American Crow in the Tree Next: Immature Red-tail Attended by Crows
My name is Pica. I live in Davis, California and I have another blog, Feathers of Hope, which I keep with my partner Numenius, and which isn't primarily about sketching birds. My ABA list stands at 697 702, which seems a fine time to start sketching birds instead of spending a fortune on a camera and lenses to start photographing them all... The first post from August 2007, detailing all this, can be found here.

i love this one. I have magpies all over my yard and you captured this one so well!
Hi Pica,
I have been searching for a magpie image as inspiration for a tattoo. Do you sell your sketches? I would love to frame this and have it in my home. It’s beautiful and holds much meaning to me. Thanks Pica
Hi Pica,
We (Faithful Fools) would like to use your image to publicize a playwriting workshop. Why a Magpie? Because the leader of the workshop is well known for a play she wrote called “Song of the Magpie.” There is a logo we use for the play, but I would like to honor her with a special image for her workshop. Would you mind if we used it? The workshop is free and many who attend are homeless or near homeless. But they write wonderful plays.
Thank you for considering this request . . . and just know that I am inspired by your images.
Paz y Bien
Sam
