Bushtit
We went out this morning and I saw a bushtit gathering spiderwebs for its nest. There was another one this afternoon doing the same thing, but this time I had my paints.
They are restless, tiny creatures that are tricky to see well. I never got a good look at the head. Realized it needed to be grayer so I added some gray in colored pencil afterwards…

Sounds like a cool bird!
“Gathering spiderwebs for its nest”...that just sounds so magical and adorable! (well, maybe not for the poor spiders who might have their webs vandalized)
Teresa: I have a bushtit nest; it’s a long hanging pendulous thing like an orioles, woven from spiderwebs adorned with lichen. I’ll see if I can sketch it.
The spiders make new webs every day!
That’d be wonderful! I’d love to see it. Thanks!
