Three things:
I’m sickened by violence, this violence, our violence, the spiral this creates.
I’m certain Bush is mentally ill.
And I’m furious that our so-called leaders seem so quick to make political capital out of this morning’s attacks. It’s grotesque.
- Dear Pica, I’ve been reading Bill Bryson’s “A Short History of Nearly Everything” recently and the amazing thing that it has done for me is remind me of just how insignificant we really are. All this awful stuff going on will, in the end, come to nothing and mean nothing. In our own sphere perhaps it is important to do what we can to succor peace, but not to the point of losing our own sanity. It does no good, I guess, to try to reason or empathize with the insane. All you can do is link arms with others like you and hope that the link is big and strong enough to overcome those who would destroy our place in the world. As I wrote in Beth’s blog, I can’t keep drowning myself in the backwash of things that hurt me so much. I must let go and attend to what I can do something about and can understand. That’s why I don’t watch the news any more. I catch the latest developments, then switch off the TV, allowing myself to come to my own conclusions, without listening to anything the likes of Bush have to say.— butuki 8. July 2005, 21:38 Link
