Numenius is a geographer by training and temperament. He is a Bay Area native, and grew up roaming the East Bay hills. Pica takes her cue from Pica nuttalli, the endemic magpie of central California, chatty and alighting on gleaming things. Pica has another blog, Bird by Bird, in which she records her sketches of birds.

Beautiful! Congrats!
gorgeous!
Oh, the colours, the colours of the land – how wonderful!!!
Lovely, and yes, the colours of the land! (Is that you, knitting and walking!?)
Thanks, everyone. Marja-Leena: Yes. I was knitting and walking. I need to perfect this particular skill. When I can do it aerobically, I’ll consider myself able to touch them hems of the Swedish women who walked 15 miles and finished a stocking along the way…
Oh that’s much lovelier than housework. Charlie is lush.
Those are really beautiful! Now just slip them on your feet and the housework will be done in two clicks of your heels!
lovely!
and that dryer double was precious, too!
