Signs Of Spring
Previous: Five Owl Night Next: Great Backyard Bird Count
Numenius is a geographer by training and temperament. He is a Bay Area native, and grew up roaming the East Bay hills. Pica takes her cue from Pica nuttalli, the endemic magpie of central California, chatty and alighting on gleaming things. Pica has another blog, Bird by Bird, in which she records her sketches of birds.
Beautiful!!
I can practically smell that almond blossom all the way over here in New England. We had an almond tree in our backyard, growing up in the SF East Bay. I used to climb it in the spring and just enhale the sweet scent of those blossoms. Seeing your picture here reminded me of that tree.
As you know, Pica, spring is slow to arrive here in New England. There aren’t too many signs right now as we have about 7 inches of snow on the ground, but I am hearing more birds singing in the early morning hours, so we are getting closer. :-)
